Watch Hamilton star, artist, and activist Ari Afsar perform at the People’s Inauguration, created by Valarie Kaur. This song is from Ari’s original play Jeannette about the life of Jeannette Rankin, the first female congressperson to be elected into federal office.

Sikh singer, songwriter, and musician Sonny Singh captures the essence of Chardi Kala with this uplifting song. The Sikh concept of ever-rising spirits, even in darkness, is a particular kind of joy. Conceived of and directed by Farah Yasmeen Shaikh, TRANSITION is a dance, music and spoken word collaboration based on the words written and spoken by Valarie Kaur from her book SEE NO STRANGER set to music composed and performed by Annette Philip, and choreographed and performed by 6 dancers from across the US: Farah Yasmeen Shaikh, Alicia Nascimento-Castro, Athena Nair, Aysha Upchurch, Brinda Guha and Nadhi Thekkek.
