Seeking Applicants: Executive Assistant & Communications Manager to Valarie Kaur

“Culturally, all spheres of American life — politics, religion, the workplace, domestic households, intimate relations — should and could have as their foundation a love ethic.” — bell hooks

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Executive Assistant to Valarie Kaur, Director of the Revolutionary Love Project. The Assistant will work closely with Kaur in all arenas of the project and help bring her teachings, stories, and calls to action to the world. Social media expertise is central to the role. Daily responsibilities include managing calendar, fielding inquiries, coordinating events, and harnessing social media for impact. The job is dynamic, exciting, and fast-paced. It offers meaningful experience at the intersection of social justice, spiritual teaching, thought leadership, and movement-building. In serving as right-hand to Kaur, the Executive Assistant will play a crucial role in our mission to inspire large-scale cultural transformation through revolutionary love.

This is a full-time salaried position. The preference is for the candidate to be based in Los Angeles. This position includes travel throughout the U.S. to accompany Kaur on speaking engagements and public events. Candidates must be in the U.S. and have proper work authorization in order to apply.

The Revolutionary Love Project was created by Sikh American civil rights leader Valarie Kaur in response to the 2016 election season and the crises threatening our democracy, climate, and future. Our mission is to inspire and equip people to build beloved community as an internal and collective practice. Kaur teaches ten core practices of revolutionary love, backed by research and ancestral wisdom. Our goal is to seed “pockets” of revolutionary love – a critical mass of people who embody these practices in networked communities across the United States to transform culture as a whole for dignity for all.

For five years, we have staged large-scale cultural interventions for social justice and produced educational tools that advance the vision of a multiracial, multifaith society. We have grown into a national movement, infused with art and music, reaching millions of people. Our programs and campaigns have mobilized deep solidarity, prominent media coverage, and lifted the voices of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) communities. We are dedicated to creating a shift in culture and consciousness, what Dr. King called a “radical revolution of values.”

Our flagship offering is the See No Stranger Learning Hub. The hub presents the Revolutionary Love Compass. It animates ten core teachings for people to practice dignity for others, opponents, and ourselves. Leaders are using the hub to make revolutionary love the ethic of their school culture, campus, house of worship, or organization. Harnessing this momentum, we are now poised to grow our project into the Revolutionary Love Institute – an organization that seeds communities of practice to deliver large-scale transformation.

We are seeking an Executive Assistant with superb communications, logistical genius, and social media savvy to support Kaur as we scale the movement for revolutionary love for decades-long impact.
